Not all goes well in the paradise of the Foggy Bottoms Resort and Spa. While Mom soaks her French bread, First Born begs for a morsel. the Face of Everyman just wished that people wouldn’t stand on his face and argue.

Amuse-gueule

Artisan sourdough crusts from behind the village bakery were an amuse-gueule. The master chefs at the Foggy Bottoms Resort and Spa had tried, without success, to make something similar. the Face of Everyman had tried several starters. He rebuked himself for letting the age old family recipe slip from his grasp in a shady poker game.

Tears

Whip-Saw takes a deep theatrical bow following his recital of that famous poem, ” The Shooting of Dan McGrew”. The lunch crowd at the Foggy Bottoms Resort and Spa gave him a Standing “O”. A tear filled the eyes of the Face of Everyman.

IRA

On advice from his tax preparer Wilcox was encouraged to open a retirement account. He presented this precious bauble as his opening deposit. the Face of Everyman could only imagine that his stash of trinkets and baubles was enormous. The Foggy Bottoms Resort and Spa 1st National Bank was going to have a good year.

Faux Pas

Somehow, thought the Face of Everyman, soaking your food in the eye socket of a venerable sage seemed wrong. He tried to overlook this matter but wrote a strong memo to the Foggy Bottoms Resort and Spa Disabilities Commission citing this faux pas. Even cripples needed to show others the respect they deserved.

Fondue

Fondue was an instant success with the Crow Clan; they couldn’t get enough. They filled the vast dining room of the Foggy Bottoms Resort and Spa each Friday night. the Face of Everyman was pleased and wondered why he hadn’t offered more international dishes. He mused over the possible introduction of Egg Foo Young.

Rent

Once again Throckmorton attempted to pay the rent for his clan at the Foggy Bottoms Resort and Spa with a glass bead found on the beach. the Face of Everyman refused to accept this mere bauble as coin of the realm.

Heroes

The Crows were upset. A juvenile raptor had tried to take plunder in their territory. One by one crows appeared and began a series of attacks to drive off this unwanted visitor to the Foggy Bottoms Resort and Spa. Finally after several glancing blows the youngster fled. the Face of Everyman praised their heroic efforts.
